What is emotional intelligence?
In its simplist form, emotional intelligence can be described as being a set of skills that help individuals understand their emotions (and the emotions of others), and they way they affect our interactions.
Genos Model of Emotional Intelligence
The Genos model of Emotional Intelligence was developed in the late 1990s by Dr Ben Palmer and Professor Con Stough and consists of six competencies:
- Awareness of Others
- Emotional Reasoning
- Inspiring performance
The questions in the Genos emotional intelligence tests asks participants (and their observers) to rate themselves on what they do with their emotional intelligence in their role. The asessment report then provides the individual with insight into their emotional intelligence by comparing the importance of the six competencies and how they demonstrate them in the workplace.
